Lay random pipe pieces ahead of the flowing goo and hit each level's pipe count before it spills. Expect a challenge best described as "Placement is easy, foresight is not", at a pace that could be summed up as "Shorter countdowns, faster goo". One input rules here: Click / Tap to place the next pipe. Its lineage traces back to 1989 (Pipe Mania). No download, no account: Pipemania's corner of the Puzzle Arcade row loads and plays free in the browser.

Ready to make it count? Today's daily Pipes challenge deals every player the identical seeded run until midnight UTC, and the global Pipemania leaderboard keeps the score.

Inside the Pipemania Cabinet

TL;DR: Lay random pipe pieces ahead of the flowing goo and hit each level's pipe count before it spills. Expect placement is easy, foresight is not at a pace that's shorter countdowns, faster goo.

Pipemania hands you a grid, a pump, and a conveyor belt of random plumbing, then starts a countdown you will learn to hate. When it hits zero, green goo begins pumping through whatever you managed to build - And it does not stop, slow down, or forgive.

Each piece in your queue must go somewhere the moment you place it: straights, elbows, and the glorious cross-pipe that carries the flow twice, once in each direction, for a fat bonus. Every pipe the goo passes through pays points, every level sets a minimum pipe count, and spilling before you hit it ends the run on the spot. Built enough?

Then the spill just closes the level and a faster one begins - Shorter countdowns, quicker goo, same merciless queue.

You can replace a placed pipe for a points fine as long as the goo has not reached it, and when your plumbing is ready you can fast-forward the flow for bonus points per pipe, which is the closest this game comes to letting you gloat.

The daily seeded board deals every player the identical queue on the identical grid, so the leaderboard argument is purely about who plumbed it better.

Learn Pipemania in Five Moves

1

Read the queue

The five upcoming pieces sit in the tray at the top - The highlighted one is next. You cannot skip or rotate pieces, only choose where the next one lands.

2

Build from the pump

The orange pump starts the flow in the direction of its arrow. Click or tap any square to place the next piece; build a connected line out of the pump before the countdown ends.

3

Keep ahead of the goo

Once the goo flows, it fills your pipes one by one. You can keep placing pieces ahead of it the whole time - The frontier of your plumbing is where the game is really played.

4

Fix mistakes, for a price

Placing onto an occupied square replaces the old pipe for a 50-point fine - Unless the goo already reached it. Flooded pipe is permanent pipe.

5

Hit the pipe count, then cash out

Each level demands a minimum number of pipes flowed through - Watch the bar at the bottom. Once you are past it, every extra pipe is profit, and holding Space fast-forwards the goo for bonus points until the spill ends the level.

Sharpest tip

Build a reservoir, not a sprint. Before the goo starts, lay a compact S-shaped run near the pump instead of a long straight line - Winding plumbing buys you time per square of screen, and time is the only currency that matters.

  1. Dump junk pieces early. A piece that fits nowhere useful still has to leave the queue, so park it in a far corner while the countdown is still running rather than panic-placing it in the goo's path later.
  2. Treat cross-pipes as savings bonds. Place them where your route can plausibly pass twice - The second pass pays a 100-point bonus, and planned loops through a cross are how the big scores happen.
  3. Extend from the exit, always. Look at where the flow will leave your current plumbing and keep two or three placed pieces ahead of it. The moment you are building level with the goo, you are already losing.
  4. Spend the replace fine without guilt. Fifty points to turn a dead-end elbow into the straight you need is the cheapest insurance in the game - A spill costs the whole run.
  5. Watch the countdown, not the grid, at level start. The first seconds decide the shape of your whole run; a deliberate first four pieces beat a dozen scattered ones.
  6. Fast-forward with a buffer. Only hold Space when there are several safe pipes between the goo and your frontier - The bonus is nice, the spill it can cause is not.
  7. Past the goal, get greedy on purpose. Once the bar fills, every extra pipe is pure bonus - Keep extending until the queue betrays you, then let it spill and take the level bonus.

The calmer branch - Fixed pipes you rotate in place to complete a circuit, with no flow bearing down on you.

Pipes Questions, Answered

How do I stop the goo?
You don't. The goo starts when the countdown ends and flows until it spills. The game is about staying ahead of it, not stopping it.
What happens when the goo spills?
If you reached the level's pipe count, the spill simply ends the level: you bank a bonus and a faster board begins. Short of the count, the spill ends your run.
Can I rotate the pipe pieces?
No - True to the 1989 original, pieces come out of the queue as-is. The skill is in where you put them, not how you turn them.
What does the cross-pipe do?
It carries the flow both horizontally and vertically, independently. The first pass scores like a normal pipe; sending the goo through the second axis later pays a 100-point bonus.
Can I replace a pipe I already placed?
Yes, for a 50-point fine - Place any piece on top of it. The exception is flooded pipe: once the goo has entered a square, that square is locked for the rest of the level.
What is the fast-forward for?
Holding Space (or the FAST button on mobile) speeds the goo up massively and pays 25 bonus points per pipe it fills. Use it when your plumbing is finished and the waiting is beneath you.
Does the goo ever speed up on its own?
Every level. Later levels shorten the build countdown and raise the goo's base speed, so the calm opening minutes of level one are a luxury you should spend wisely.
Is the daily Pipemania board the same for everyone?
Yes. The date seeds the pump position and the entire piece queue, so every player plumbs the identical puzzle and the daily board measures planning, not luck.
How do I play with the keyboard?
Arrow keys move a highlight cursor and X places the next piece there. Most players stick with the mouse, but the cursor works fine for laptop trackpad refuseniks.
