Inside the Trick Quiz Cabinet

TL;DR: Survive 25 trick questions on 3 lives and 10 seconds each, where reading carefully beats knowing things. Expect your own brain is the boss fight at a pace that's ten seconds of doubt at a time.

Trick Quiz is 25 questions long, completely honest, and out to get you. Every question has a correct answer sitting in plain sight; the trap is the assumption you bring to it. How many letters are in 'the alphabet'? Count again. Where do you bury the survivors? You don't. Which word is always spelled incorrectly?

Read the question the way it was written, not the way your brain autocompleted it. You get three lives, ten seconds per question, and a scoring system that pays for speed, which is exactly the pressure that makes careful readers rush and rushers wrong.

Answer streaks add bonuses, the reveal after each question explains the trick so every death teaches, and the question order shuffles per run while the daily seed locks one order for the whole world. Finishing all 25 with lives to spare pays a triumphant bonus and the quiet certainty that your brain reads what is actually there, which is rarer than it sounds.

Learn Trick Quiz in Five Moves

1

Read the actual question

Not the question you expected. The traps live in the exact wording: quotes, capitals and literal instructions all matter.

2

Answer within ten seconds

Tap an option or press 1-4. The timer bar burns down; running out costs a life like a wrong answer.

3

Spend three lives wisely

Wrong answers and timeouts each cost one life. Lose all three and the quiz claims another mind.

4

Learn from every reveal

After each answer the trick is explained. The quiz never repeats a lesson, but it rhymes.

5

Chase speed and streaks

Fast correct answers pay more, and three-in-a-row adds a streak bonus. Finishing all 25 pays 300 plus 100 per spare life.

Score Higher at Trick Quiz

Sharpest tip

Read the question twice: once for meaning, once for wording. The second read catches quotes, 'all but', and words about words.

  1. When an option looks too silly to be there, it is there for a reason: joke answers are correct far more often than chance allows.
  2. Numbers in trick questions are usually bait: before calculating, check whether the question is even about arithmetic.
  3. Literal instructions ('tap the answer', 'tap the smallest') outrank knowledge every time: obey the words, not the concept.
  4. Watch for questions about the question: spelling, letter counts and word lengths are the genre's oldest ambush.
  5. If two options are defensible, pick the one that requires the question to be sneakier: this quiz's default setting is sneaky.
  6. Guard your final life by spending the full ten seconds; the speed bonus is loose change next to the 100-point survival bonus.

House Rules & Spin-Offs

Classic trick quizzes

Wordplay, literal instructions and joke answers that turn out correct: the school Trick Quiz belongs to.

Straight trivia

The honest cousin where knowledge actually helps; less betrayal, fewer stories to tell.

Riddle gauntlets

Longer-form lateral thinking without the timer; the trick quiz is riddles with a heartbeat.

Party quiz battles

Multiplayer descendants score speed against friends; our daily seed is the single-player version of that argument.

Quiz Questions, Answered

Are the answers actually fair?
Yes: every correct answer is defensible from the exact wording of its question, and the reveal explains the logic after each one. Sneaky, never arbitrary.
Is the question order random?
Free play shuffles the order per run; the daily challenge locks one shuffled order worldwide so scores compare cleanly.
What pays the most points?
Correct answers pay 100 plus up to 50 for speed, streaks of three add 25, and finishing all 25 pays 300 plus 100 per remaining life.
What happens when time runs out?
It counts as a wrong answer: one life gone, trick revealed, quiz marches on.
Can I retry a question I got wrong?
No. The quiz moves forward only, like every irreversible mistake you have ever made. That is the flavor.
