Land ten arrows as close to center as the shifting wind allows. Veterans call it "Reading wind is the real skill", played out at a tempo of "Wind strengthens arrow by arrow". You need nothing but Drag and release (draw and loose). The idea was born around Carnival ranges. No download, no account: Archery Range's corner of the Sports Arcade row loads and plays free in the browser.

Ready to make it count? Today's daily Archery challenge deals every player the identical seeded run until midnight UTC, and the global Archery Range leaderboard keeps the score.

Inside the Archery Range Cabinet

TL;DR: Land ten arrows as close to center as the shifting wind allows. Expect reading wind is the real skill at a pace that's wind strengthens arrow by arrow.

Archery Range hands you a bow, ten arrows, and a target that refuses to make things easy. Drag to draw - The farther you pull, the faster and flatter the arrow flies - Then hold your breath, because the moment the string comes back, your aim starts to sway.

Wind flags flutter beside the range, and reading them is the whole sport: aim into the breeze and let it carry the arrow home. After every shot the target slips a little farther away, so the tens you bank early must be earned all over again at distance.

Our version pairs buttery drag-to-draw aiming with honest wind physics, works just as well with a fingertip as a mouse, and scores every arrow by the ring it lands in. When practice feels too kind, the daily seeded round gives everyone the same wind, the same distances, and one leaderboard to settle it.

Learn Archery Range in Five Moves

1

Drag to draw the bow

Press and pull back to nock an arrow. The farther you draw, the more power behind the shot - And a faster arrow flies flatter and drifts less in the wind.

2

Read the wind flags

The flags beside the range show which way the wind blows and how hard. A limp flag means shoot straight; a stiff one means aim well upwind of the bullseye.

3

Steady the sway

While the bow is drawn, your aim drifts - And the longer you hold, the worse the wobble gets. Settle your line quickly instead of chasing a perfect frozen crosshair.

4

Release to loose the arrow

Let go and the arrow flies with whatever aim and power you had at that instant. Watch where it lands: every impact is free information about the wind.

5

Make all ten arrows count

You get exactly ten arrows, and the target eases farther away as the round goes on. Rings score more toward the center, so every point of drift matters.

Sharpest tip

Loose within a couple of seconds of settling your aim. The sway grows the longer you hold the draw, so a decent line released early beats a perfect line you can no longer hold.

  1. Read the flags before you draw, not after. Once the string is back you are on the sway clock, and splitting attention between flags and crosshair is how arrows end up in the grass.
  2. Aim off, not at. In a crosswind, hold your aim upwind of the bullseye in proportion to the flag - The wind will walk the arrow back onto the center for you.
  3. Use a full draw on the far shots. Maximum power means a flatter, quicker flight, which gives the wind less time to shove your arrow off line.
  4. Treat every landing as data. If your last arrow drifted two rings left, the wind is telling you exactly how much to hold right - Adjust in ring widths, not guesses.
  5. Do not chase the previous miss blindly. The wind can shift between arrows, so re-read the flags every shot instead of assuming the last correction still applies.
  6. Bank your cushion early. The target is closest on the first arrows, so punish those easy distances - A fat early lead lets you shoot the long final arrows calmly.

House Rules & Spin-Offs

Olympic target archery

The formal discipline: recurve bows, 70 meters, and a ten-ring face where world-class scores hinge on millimeters and nerve.

Field archery

Courses laid through woods and hills with targets at varying, sometimes unmarked distances - The hiking-boots cousin of the range.

Balloon-pop ranges

The carnival midway version, where accuracy is measured in bursts and the prize wall does the scoring.

Motion-control archery

The Wii Sports Resort lineage: draw a virtual bow with your hands, fight simulated wind, and lose an afternoon to one more round.

Archery Questions, Answered

How is Archery Range scored?
Each arrow scores by the ring it lands in, with the most points at the very center of the target. Your round score is the total of all ten arrows.
How does the wind work?
The wind pushes your arrow sideways during flight. The flags show its direction and strength, and the drift grows with distance - So the far shots punish lazy flag-reading hardest.
Why does my aim wobble?
Holding a drawn bow is hard work, and the game models it: the sway starts small and builds the longer you hold. Committing to a quick, smooth release is part of the skill.
Does the target really move?
Yes - After each arrow the target recedes a little farther down the range. Early shots are gimmes; the last few are where rounds are won and lost.
How many arrows do I get?
Ten per round, no more. There are no second chances on a bad release, which is exactly what makes a clean ten-arrow card feel so good.
Is the daily challenge the same for everyone?
Yes. The daily round is seeded from the date, so every player gets the identical wind sequence and target distances - The leaderboard compares pure marksmanship.
Can I play Archery Range on a touchscreen?
Yes. Touch and drag backward to draw, slide to aim, and lift your finger to loose the arrow. The drag gesture mirrors the mouse control exactly.
Is Archery Range free to play?
Completely free in your browser - No download, no install, no signup. Open the range and your first arrow is already nocked.
